CBCT & Panoramic Service & Repair | Planmeca, Dexis, Vatech, RayAmerica
CBCT and Panoramic Service and Repair
Panoramic and cone beam imaging on Planmeca, Dexis, Vatech and RayAmerica. Diagnostics, calibration, geometry and alignment, sensor and detector faults, and coordinating manufacturer parts and state X-ray testing so your imaging is compliant and reading clean.
Imaging brands we work on
Panoramic and CBCT units share the same failure patterns across brands. We diagnose the fault, handle the mechanical and electrical repair, and coordinate manufacturer parts and calibration where the platform requires it.

Symptoms we see most on imaging
If your scans changed, stopped, or will not acquire, the cause is usually mechanical, electrical or a calibration that has drifted. If any of these sound familiar, we have almost certainly seen it before.
Blurred or ghosted panoramic images
Layers that no longer line up, doubling, or a soft focal trough. Usually a geometry or calibration drift, a rotation motor or belt issue, or a sensor that has shifted, rather than patient positioning.
Streaks, banding or dead lines
Horizontal or vertical artifacts, dropped rows, or noise across the image point to the sensor or detector, its cabling, or a calibration that needs to be re-run for the current detector.
Unit will not rotate or home
The gantry stalls, will not return to start, or throws a motion fault mid-scan. Typically a drive motor, belt, home sensor or control board, which we diagnose before ordering anything.
No exposure or tube fault
The unit arms but will not expose, or reports a generator or tube error. We isolate whether it is the generator, the exposure circuit, wiring, or an interlock before any high-cost part is quoted.
Software will not connect to the unit
Images will not transfer, the acquisition PC lost the device, or the capture software times out. Often the bridge PC, network, drivers or the link box rather than the imaging hardware itself.
Calibration and QA overdue
Image quality has slowly slipped, or you are due for state X-ray testing. We run the calibration the platform supports and coordinate the required inspection at cost.
Honest scope, and the warranty checked first
Imaging is different from chairs. Some calibrations, tube replacements and detector swaps are locked to the manufacturer or require a certified engineer and proprietary software. We are straight about that. What we do is diagnose the fault accurately, handle the mechanical and electrical repairs we are equipped for, run the calibrations the platform allows, and coordinate manufacturer service and parts when the platform demands it, so you are not paying a diagnostic fee to two vendors.
Why this saves money. Practices often call the manufacturer for a fault that turns out to be a bridge PC, a network drop or a cable, and pay a premium visit for it. A correct first diagnosis tells you whether this is a $200 fix or a manufacturer job.
Every unit we touch gets its model and serial logged, and if a failed part is covered we help file the claim so the part costs you nothing. You pay for labor, which no manufacturer warranty covers anyway.
Before you call, gather three things
A little detail up front lets us tell you whether this is a same-week fix or a manufacturer coordination, before anyone drives out.
Model and serial
Find the label on the column or base of the unit. Photograph the whole label rather than typing it out.
A sample image
If the problem is image quality, save an example scan that shows the artifact. It often identifies the cause before we arrive.
The exact error
Note any code or message on the unit or in the software, and text all three to us with a short description of what changed.
What imaging service costs
| Service | Price |
|---|---|
| Diagnostic visit | $185, trip plus first hour, credited toward the repair |
| Labor after the first hour | $135 / hour, half-hour increments |
| Plan member labor | $115 / hour, no trip charge |
| Parts | Cost + 25%, or free when covered by warranty |
| Manufacturer coordination | Arranged at cost when a certified engineer or proprietary calibration is required |
| State X-ray testing | Coordinated at cost |
Sales tax applies to repair labor and parts in New York. We tell you up front when a fault falls to the manufacturer rather than billing you to find out.
Imaging questions
Why are my panoramic images suddenly blurry?
Sudden blur, doubling or misaligned layers is usually a geometry or calibration drift, a rotation motor or belt issue, or a sensor that has shifted, rather than patient positioning. We confirm the cause and re-run the calibration the platform supports.
Do you work on Planmeca, Dexis, Vatech and RayAmerica?
Yes. Panoramic and CBCT units across Planmeca, Dexis, Vatech and RayAmerica share the same failure patterns. We diagnose and repair the mechanical and electrical faults, and coordinate manufacturer parts and calibration where the platform requires it.
Can you replace a CBCT tube or detector yourself?
Some tube and detector work is locked to the manufacturer or needs a certified engineer and proprietary software. We are honest about that. We diagnose accurately, do the repairs we are equipped for, and coordinate the manufacturer when the job requires it, so you do not pay two diagnostic fees.
My scan streaks or drops lines. Is that the sensor?
Streaks, banding or dropped rows usually point to the sensor or detector, its cabling, or a calibration that must be re-run for the current detector. A sample image usually identifies it before the visit.
Can you handle our state X-ray testing?
Yes. We coordinate the required state X-ray inspection and testing at cost, and time it with any calibration or repair so it is one visit rather than several.
Do you service brands other than imaging?
Yes. A-dec, DCI Edge, Midmark, Air Techniques, plus chairs, compressors, vacuum systems and sterilizers. See all equipment services.
