Dental Office Electrical & Structured Cabling

Specialized electrical and data infrastructure for dental practices. We install the high-amperage circuits your equipment requires and the network infrastructure your practice management system depends on.

Why Dental Electrical Is Different

Dental equipment has electrical requirements that most electricians don’t understand. X-ray units, CBCT scanners, CAD/CAM mills, and even dental chairs have specific circuit requirements—and getting them wrong means tripped breakers, equipment damage, or failed inspections.

Our manufacturer training from A-dec, Midmark, Planmeca, and other equipment makers means we know exactly what each piece of equipment needs. We install electrical systems that work from day one.

Common Electrical Mistakes

  • Undersized circuits for X-ray equipment
  • Missing dedicated circuits for CBCT/panoramic units
  • Shared circuits causing equipment interference
  • No isolated ground for sensitive equipment
  • Insufficient outlets at operatory positions
  • Poor data cabling preventing efficient operations

Dental Equipment Electrical Requirements

We install to manufacturer specifications for every piece of equipment.

Equipment Type Circuit Requirements Special Notes
Intraoral X-ray 20A dedicated circuit One per unit, isolated ground recommended
Panoramic X-ray 20-30A dedicated circuit Check manufacturer specs, may need 208/240V
CBCT Scanner 30-50A dedicated circuit Often requires 208V or 240V, UPS recommended
CAD/CAM Mill 20A dedicated circuit Isolated ground, surge protection
Dental Chair 20A circuit (can share) 2-4 chairs per 20A circuit typical
Autoclave/Sterilizer 20-30A dedicated circuit May require 208V/240V depending on model
Compressor 20-30A dedicated circuit Located in mechanical room, noise isolated
Vacuum System 20-30A dedicated circuit Located in mechanical room

Save 30-40% on Technology Infrastructure

Installing data cabling during construction is dramatically cheaper than retrofitting later.

💰

Cost Savings

Installing cabling during construction costs 30-40% less than retrofitting after walls are closed.

🎯

Optimal Placement

Plan network drops exactly where you need them for workstations, imaging, and equipment.

🔒

Hidden Infrastructure

All cabling runs through walls—no exposed conduit or surface-mounted raceways.

🚀

Future-Proof

We install extra capacity for future expansion—adding drops later is expensive.

Electrical & Cabling FAQs

Dental equipment has electrical requirements that differ from typical commercial spaces. X-ray units need dedicated circuits with specific amperage. CBCT scanners often require 208V or 240V power. Imaging equipment needs isolated grounds to prevent interference. Standard electricians install to code—we install to manufacturer specifications, which ensures your equipment works properly and warranties remain valid.

We recommend Cat6A cabling for dental offices—it supports 10 Gigabit speeds and handles the large imaging files from digital X-rays, CBCT scans, and intraoral cameras. Every workstation, imaging device, and operatory should have dedicated network drops. We also install separate cabling for security cameras and phone systems.

A typical operatory needs 2-4 network drops (workstation, intraoral camera, digital sensors, future expansion). Reception needs drops for each workstation. You’ll also need drops for your server room, imaging equipment, phone system, and security cameras. We always recommend installing more drops than you think you need—adding them later is expensive.

Yes. All electrical work requires permits and inspections. We handle the entire permit process and coordinate with local inspectors. We’re familiar with electrical codes across NYC, Westchester, Long Island, and New Jersey—including any healthcare-specific requirements.

Absolutely. We coordinate with your IT provider or practice management vendor to ensure the infrastructure meets their specifications. We can install the physical cabling and equipment racks, while your IT provider handles network configuration, server setup, and software installation.
